Project Management Qualification

Target group

This program is addressed to project leaders who need outstanding project management skills and to companies that must demonstrate qualified project leaders on their projects. This is increasingly demanded, for example by OEMs in the automotive industry.

Objectives

Project managers acquire the necessary skills to successfully realize projects in terms of methodology and leadership, in compliance with their management and customers as well as within the budget, costs and specifications. Optionally, a certification by the University of Applied Sciences Deggendorf can be acquired. The exam conforms to a practice-oriented master level and does not require an expensive re-certification

Description

The participants receive a practical introduction to the most important methods and tools of project management. By working on selected participant projects, they will learn in a group setting:

  • to start, plan and implement projects professionally.

  • to use the methods, tools and techniques of project management, adapted to the complexity of their own projects.

  • to handle the cost, time and scope of a project and to successfully complete it.

A project is initiated and planned based on the project management processes (of your company). The following processes are practiced in particular: project order, project objectives, project scope, stakeholder analysis, project organization, scheduling, cost planning, resource planning, risk and communication management.

This workshop focuses on project status, projections, change management and decision-making during the execution phase of a project.

Based on case study (adapted to your company), the participants work on an existing project plan and prepare a status report, including an earned value analysis and a milestone trend analysis. Afterwards, they must implement a change request into the planning and deal with a crisis situation.

Choosing the right project management tools and techniques accounts for 50% of the project success. The other 50% are influenced by leadership skills. The key questions addressed in this workshop are:

  • How do I develop a team?

  • How do I influence stakeholders?

  • How do I adhere to my own personal values and beliefs?

  • How do I apply coaching on my project?

Project leaders will be enabled to lead a team without disciplinary responsibility and to influence the stakeholders in favor of the project. Specific contents are two coaching models, techniques of delegation and feedback as well as a model of influencing. The participants will learn through live coaching demonstrations and peer-to-peer exercises.

The participants can acquire a project management certification by the University of Applied Sciences Deggendorf. The certificate is comparable to the PMI and IPMA certifications, but it does not require re-certification. The examination consists of a written thesis (25-35 pages), an oral exam, a 15-minute presentation and a 30-minute discussion.

On request, we offer a one-day preparation for the participants repeating the relevant topics from the workshops and simulating a written exam. Virtual supervisions are also possible.
